In this talk Jamiel presents the core importance of NFTs and metaverse, namely they are a means to transmit narrative, provenance, story through community and creativity. Although what we see in the media may focus on NFT sales of artwork at exorbitant prices, or on the other extreme, rugpulls and fraud, the core value proposition of NFTs and metaverse remains strong, relevant and sustainable: It is merely an improved way of doing what we as humans have been doing already for thousands of years through our creativity and efforts to preserve over generations that creativity.

The recent backlash against DEI is undoing the precious progress that was made in recent years. This talk takes a candid look at some of the problems with typical DEI approaches. Using real-world case studies, the talk introduces a unique methodology to measure inclusion, which avoids the backlash and quantifies the impact of DEI initiatives on corporate KPIs. Krista Kim is a contemporary artist and founder of the Techism movement (2014), whose work explores the concept of the digital consciousness. Her interest in digital technology and its revolutionary effects on human perception, media, social structures, and communication had led her to work in both digital and physical realms. Having developed her signature language of shifting gradients using digital software since 2012, her works on glass and plexi hypnotize its viewers into a trance of tranquility while her video works provide meditative experiences of color and light.
Darla Miles is a six time Emmy Award winning reporter for the number one local news station in the country, legendary WABC-TV Eyewitness News in New York City. She joined the team as a general assignment reporter in 2009. Fluent in Spanish, Darla began her journalism career as a teleprompter operator for CNN Español in Atlanta, working her way up the ranks in various technical roles before she was promoted to creative services producer – all as a part of the original team that launched the 24-hour network in 1997. From CNN en Español, Darla moved to reporting and anchoring roles at WJBF in Augusta, WTVD in Raleigh-Durham, and WFAA in Dallas-Fort Worth and has worked as a weekend anchor for CNN Headline News.
